Loving Lake Life
Established in 1958, when the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers dammed the White River to control flood waters, Table Rock Lake offers endless fun for those who call it home. With 800 miles of shoreline and 43,000 acres of oh-so-inviting water, this lake is as majestic as it gets.
So much water leaves plenty of room to find a little solitude and reflect on just how amazing lake life is. Escape for a romantic boat cruise with the one you love; head out for family fun like skiing, wake boarding, or swimming; or find a big group of boaters tied together to seriously celebrate good times on the lake!
If just one gorgeous lake wasn't what you had in mind when considering houses for sale on lakes, don't worry. The Branson area offers two other, huge pristine lakes to call your own: Bull Shoals Lake and Lake Taneycomo.
Fishing & the Great Outdoors
Why not include fishing in the Lake Life section? Any angler around here will tell you we've got way too many record-sized fish to fit as a side note in any story. It's no wonder homes for sale on lakes around here go so quickly!
Table Rock Lake is renowned among bass fishermen for its no-need-for-fibbing monster bass. For coveted lunker bass, Kentucky spotted bass, largemouth, smallmouth, goggle eyes, and white bass, Table Rock is as plentiful as it as beautiful.
If you ever tire of reeling in bass, you can switch bait and grab some other local favorites. In early spring and late fall, up to 15" crappie are also yours for the taking, especially in wooded coves with lots of forage base. Burly bluegill also make for great eating, and you'll find your fill all over the lake, especially near boat docks. And for you night owls, Table Rock has channel and flathead catfish galore in big lake pockets, coves, and even nearby creeks. Lake Taneycomo is home to record-breaking rainbow and brown trout. We're talking up to 25-pound trout—like the brown a local caught, setting a record in 1998. Why is the lake so trout-friendly? It's a perfect habitat, and the four hatcheries that stock the lake do an excellent job managing the population with big trout you'll want to call your buddies about.
Bull Shoals Lake offers over 70,000 acres of fishing water spanning between Missouri and Arkansas, and giant fish make it a regular host to fishing tournaments. Much like Table Rock, Bull Shoals boasts incredible bass including state records for small mouth, Kentucky spotted, striped, hybrid striped, and white bass. The lake is also home to impressive crappie and catfish.
